That’s no innuendo. It’s the first smart phone on the planet to received a curved display, not just a phone protected by glass with “rounded edges”. Sometime last month, Samsung said that they were working on a device with a curved display. Launching this week, looks like Samsung’s finally done! But what makes this phone so special?
Samsung has loved to build devices based on concepts that people put up on YouTube. Curved displays are a common element in many conceptual videos, but why? The truth is – it’s fancy. But to be honest, it could be more. A curved display could be used to give the user a better grip, or to give the phone an additional dimension of controls (like the Nokia Express Music brought with it). Honestly, curved displays, if engineered right, could just do the trick.
But what makes this phone so special? For starters – it’s the first of it’s kind, like Google Glass or Adam and Eve! But going further, this might just be an experimental device to gauge the response of the public. Why? Maybe for the Samsung Galaxy S5… Maybe not though. What do you think?
