Samsung is expected to unveil its new Galaxy S5 next week. Like it has been a trend in recent times this awaited Samsung flagship has brought with itself an entire deal of rumors and speculations. Including its controversial fingerprint sensor, to its leaked screenshots all have added to the excitement of its launch. Samsung is said to be debuting its new smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 24.

Although Samsung Mobile Executive Vice President, Lee Young Hee recently stated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date will lie in March or April, it now looks all but certain that the phone will be unveiled this month. Now, however, an officially issued Samsung press conference invite has teased the Samsung Galaxy S5 unveiled for Monday, February 24 as part of the wider MWC 2014 conference.Image may be NSFW.

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Fingerprint Sensor

With Samsung expected to unveil its new Galaxy S5 next week, Sammobile has published a self-described explanatory report saying it’s “confirmed” that the new device will come with a fingerprint sensor to unlock the smartphone.

Contrary to earlier rumors that said Samsung will use the Galaxy S5′s entire screen as one giant fingerprint sensor, Sammobile has confirmed that the sensor will instead be built into the smartphone’s home button. (Fingerprint sensors appear to be the new rage in smart phones!) Not only does Apple’s latest iPhone have fingerprint-reading technology, but the HTC One Max also has the similar feature.

Rumors of a fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S5 first came up last month. Near the same time, a Samsung executive also mentioned that the company was looking at iris-scanning security technology however; it’s now believed this tech won’t be released with the Galaxy S5.

• Other recently emerged Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have claimed the upcoming handset will make use of a new 16-megapixel smartphone camera sensor, offering high-end snaps.

• Another recent report has claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could be wrapped within a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active like waterproof coating.

• Samsung has also developed an 8GB RAM chip, just in time for the Galaxy S5 launch. The South Korean electronics giant announced the chip at the end of 2013, calling the new chip “the industry’s first eight gigabit (Gb), low power double data rate 4 (LPDDR4), mobile DRAM”. (Supposedly the chip should use around 40 per cent less battery power and help power higher resolution displays.)

Samsung Galaxy S5 Price

Although the Samsung Galaxy S5 price is a long way from being confirmed, it has already been suggested that the S5 will cost more than its already pricey predecessor.
