Recently, Nokia launched the much-awaited “Lumia Black” update. The Firmware update by Nokia is their best so far. This indeed delighted the users. A lot more was expected from Nokia after the well-known AMBER update, and Nokia did us one better. The Lumia Black update includes the Windows GDR3 update. The new enhancements have made Windows Phones a lot cooler and is helping them stay strong in the war of smartphones.
So what’s new?
Glance 2.0
The Enhanced Glance Screen has includes night mode colours, also with the notifications for new texts, instant messages, missed call alert, calenders and more.
Driving Mode
This newly added feature helps you drive better by preventing your texts or calls from popping up on your screen while you’re driving. This means that users do not get notifications once in Driving mode (and hence don’t not get disturbed).
New Task Manager
The new and improved Task Manager allowed users to close apps from a multiple windows view (like in iOS 7). Looks like one doesn’t have to keep pressing the back button all the time like before!
Nokia Camera
This app lets you switch between three modes, Pro-Mode: A mode for amazing photos, Smart-Mode: A mode for adding effects, and Video-Mode: I think you get the point. Also, the Lumia 1020 and 1520 come with ‘Raw-Photo-Mode’, making the photo quality far better.
Nokia Story Teller
This new app allows one to see one’s Photos over a Map, much like a story. It creates a timeline of your photos on a Map. This helps in keeping your photos arranged according to places. This is way better than the messy old “Photo Gallery”.
Nokia Beamer
Nokia Beamer has been improved, making your Windows Phone work as a projector. Now, you can project your entire phone on a any computer screen and all you need is an Internet Connection.
Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Less Energy)
This allows Lumia Phones to connect with other Bluetooth devices with less energy consumption, saving the battery. It helps in faster data transfer between devices and apps which exclusively use Bluetooth 4.0 LE .
Screen Rotation
This was a relief and perhaps the most awaited and required feature. Now, WP8 users need not worry about accidentally tilting their phones and ruining an otherwise amazing experience.
The rumours of Windows Phone 8.1 mention a lot more additions, such as a Notification center! So stay tuned to know more.
